12th April 2024


What a fantastic week of science we have had in Year 6.


We dissected pigs hearts, explored the evolution of animals and finished the week off with a biscuit dunking investigation. All of our children have had brilliant big questions and have made very educated hypotheses. We definitely have some future scientists and surgeons in our class.



22nd March 2024


This week, Year 6 completed their playground design projects - they were all amazing and very imaginative.

15th March 2024


Year 6 have enjoyed starting their algebra unit in maths this week and have been excellent at creating expressions and simplifying expressions. They have also been very enthusiastic when learning about immigration and how it has impacted Britain over the past 100 years. We ended our week by winning the attendance trophy, which is fantastic; 100% attendance Year 6 - let’s do it again next week!

Year 6 have completed their final round of mock SATs this week - I am so proud of their hard work and dedication.

23rd February 2024


Year 6 started their new DT unit this week - creating a playground structure; they explored what makes a good playground and designed their dream playground.


Next week, we will begin to create a model structure of our designs!

Year 6 had a fantastic first aid session this week!

Year 6 have learnt so much about the human heart how this week and how to take care of their own hearts. They have also worked extremely hard to learn how to find a percentage of an amount in maths.

Year 6 have been using the technique of chiaroscuro (the use of light and dark) this week in their art lesson. They took their Mayan wayob name and used this technique to make their work look three dimensional.

Year 6 have been working hard this week learning how to convert fractions into decimals.

A great first week back for Year 6; they have shown a fantastic attitude towards their learning and have shown great resilience in our new topics. We ended the week with our new art unit and the children created some amazing Mayan inspired pieces.

Year 6 have started preparing their material to make their waistcoats this week - they are all very excited!

We have had a super week in Year 6. On Tuesday, we participated in an athletics competition over at SHTC; the children were exemplary and showed great sportsmanship throughout the morning. We have also made great progress in our fractions unit this week. To finish our week off, we have put the Christmas tree up and decorated the classroom - we are all feeling very festive!

Year 4 have had a brilliant week of learning. We were lucky enough to have a Diwali workshop delivered to our children. We explored the story of Rama and Sita, tried on clothing, tried food and even danced. The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Year 6 participated in the 'bearpees' challenge for Children in Need this week and had a great time doing so; we also learnt about the history of Children in Need and the evolution of Pudsey.



10th November 2023


It has been a great first week back at school this week. Year 6 have started their fraction unit and have begun their instruction writing.


We have also started our new, exciting DT unit - designing and making a waistcoat. A super start to the term Year 6 - well done!




20th October 2023


Year 6 have been working hard this week learning a new method in maths - drop down method. All of the children have worked extremely hard to grasp a very tricky method.

13th October 2023


Year 6 have worked their socks off this week! The week started with a fantastic Harvest Festival assembly where a group of our Year 6 children danced, sang and performed pieces of poetry for the whole school, to teach them about the Harvest Festival - it was brilliant!


We have also completed our first round of mock SATS; I have been so impressed with the resilience and the determination that all of the children have shown throughout the week. They should be very proud of themselves this week.


29th September 2023


Another busy week in Year 6: we have been learning lots of new skills in Literacy and getting ready for our multiplication and division unit in maths. We have started to plan our roast dinner and the children have been researching and learning how to cook everything and make sure it is all ready at once - we are very excited to cook it all. Our week finished with a lovely cake afternoon in support of Macmillan - thank you to all of the parents for coming.



22nd September 2023


This week Year 6 enjoyed a lovely stay and read session, to launch our new Preston 70; the children have loved picking their new books and have been engrossed in their new tales and adventures.


They have also been working hard in DT, researching roast dinners through time and how they have evolved and changed.


We finished the week off with a lovely reading session in the wildlife area of Goodnight Mister Tom.



15th September 2023


This week in Year 6, we have been working hard planning and writing a diary entry in the role of a WW2 evacuee; the children have shown a great understanding of how life was for children during WW2.


I have also been very impressed with their efforts in PE this week - pushing themselves, improving their fitness and showing outstanding perseverance.

8th September 2023


Year 6 have had a great start to the year and have all settled in to Year 6 life fantastically. We have been working hard learning place value this week and starting our new novel - Goodnight Mister Tom. The children have loved testing how power varies during our science lesson and have gained lots of knowledge regarding electrons and electrical currents. Well done Year 6 for a brilliant first week.

Stem Event at Craven Park

Today the Year 5 children enjoyed a day at Craven Park exploring Science and Technology. They had a fun filled day including opportunities to investigate bacteria, find out about Drax Power Station, compete to build the largest marshmallow and stick structure and had a tour of the grounds. All the children thoroughly enjoyed their day.

As part of their DT project Year 4 have designed and made their own sandwich fillings. They have also designed and made their own packaging. They looked very tasty and the children have practised lots of important skills.

Year 4 have had a brilliant day at Eureka! They had a workshop called 'Product to Poo' and found out lots more about how their bodies work. This links in with the books Year 4 have been studying this half term - The Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers.


12th May 2022


Year 4 have been busy building bridges in their forest school sessions this half term. Each team had to create a bridge strong enough to stand on. They did a really good job.

A trip to the KC stadium for our year 4 pupils today.Here they have had a tour of the stadium and been involved in some Maths and English challenges.

Year 4 have had a lovely, and very busy Design Technology morning making their musical instruments. We have been impressed by their skills with scissors and glue guns and their enthusiasm and creativity.

Year 4 wowed us with their Ukelele playing during their christmas performance this afternoon. What a talented bunch.
